Empires. (Tom Conrad's band)

Post by Lucky Charms. on Wed 10 Sep 2008, 11:29 am

Empires. i r pleased. nawwww
Empires are an unconventional, but certainly exceptional band.
They have been making music for a while now, with an album available for download at http://weareempires.com

Fun fact, Tom Conrad who was formerly from TAI is the guitarist for Empires.

Sean Van Vleet - Vocals, piano etc etc
Thomas Conrad - Guitarist
Max Steger - Guitarist
Alfred Smith - Bass
Ryan Luciani - Drums

Anyone else heard of them/like them?

lol@chu
Yeah I did.
you have pleased him

But I agree. I think what they are doing is very admirable.
Album downloads and stuff and didja know? Their concert ticket sales are like 8 US dollars at some places.
It's all for the fans and even though, some people say they're only doing it to get a fanbase, I think they really are passionate about the music they make.

Some topics of discussion.
You can add any question for the fans anytime you wanna.

What is your favourtite song and why?
Do you think their music can be as big as Panic At The Disco or are they forveer gonna have to live off internet downloads?
How would you call their sound?
Have you ever watched them live?

Those are good questions. you have pleased him
My favourite song would have to be Spit ther Dark just because of it's amazing message and the power and emotion that it encompasses. I think that it takes a really honest band to be able to do a song like that and have the song still be believeable and when Empires sing I definaelty believe them.
It really resonates with me because like I've said before it's helped me through some touch times, sort of been my anthem for a little while now, and I just really really believe in it.

I think they have ENOURMOUS potential and I know that they have the support of Pete Wentz that could probably bring them into the spotlight a little more. But I think that they have the capacity to do it on there own and that the digital download aspect is a really good stepping stone for them to get heard.

There sound is.... amazing, I can't really place it into a genre really, I just think its fantastically new and fresh and just nawwww

No I havent seen them live, I would absolutely love too and would get a ticket in a heartbeat if they came to Australia you have pleased him

And those are great answers. you have pleased him

Spit the Dark was just asdfghjk.
It was a jolt to the system in the best way possible.
I like the rawness of his voice during the chorus. It was just so humane.
When it first blasted through my ears, wow, I was just like stunned.
But you know, Hayley, also holds a place in my heart.
Because from the title, I thought it was just another love song but they proved me wrong and I listened to it constantly.

Many people do not like to associate Empires with Decaydance and FBR because TAI... and Tom's incident. But personally, I think the can do well because thye have many loyal fans and you know, a really pure passion.

I like how because of their acoustic songs, they have a mix of soft and hard edge sound. It really is eye opening.

They're touring in the US now right? I think they're touring witha few bands here and there at loacl clubs or anything. How exactly do they always stay so happy, no one knows. Wink

I would absolutely love to see them live nawwww Hopefully they come to Australia and I get that chance
I think Empires can transcend all the drama that happened with Tom and TAI... and be so much more than 'that band with the guy who used to be in TAI... in it' as I've heard some people so. They obviously haven't given the music a chance and are making assumptions , but the fans that Empires do have are some of the most pure people I have meet, completely about the music, as it should be, loyal, and just music lovers in general.

I love Hayley too, at first I automatically assumed that it was just another love song about a girl but the lyrics and the honesty and passion in the vocals quickly changed my mind. I love it, I really do nawwww

As would I.
Watching them play live on youtube, I could already sense the waves of appreciation that the whole band seem to emit. They really are happy to play music and it makes me so happy to see that. That innocence. Empires don't really care about the money, or the fame, it's all in the sound and to see that, I just melt. I heard that they almost went broke on tour because they didn't want their fans to pay so much for tickets and even when Sean was sick, he sang beautifully for all the dates.

I think Empires can be the start of a new musical era. They inspire so many you know, and that is just a miracle. I think, most people have already forgotten about the drama hopefully and are concentrating on the music. Some of the Empires fans are the most selfless people I know. A group of people started the Empires Tour Fund to pay and help support Empires touring and like pay for gas or whatever. That makes me want to start my own Tour Fund here in Singapore and send the money to them.

One of the first songs I heard was Believe! from their myspace.
That song was the one song that got me to donload their album because just by hearing it, you knew they had talent.

By the way, have you heard of if I'm not wrong, the untitled song? I'm not sre but it's been dubbed Stunned by some of the fans. You can find it on youtube because that's where I first heard it. It's not on HOWL.

My Poor Lover is just -cumslut-
No other expression. It has a great way of expressing adultery.
Because its so indifferent and yet, its so meaningful.
I love that song.

Oh didja see the photographs that come with the download?
I love them so.
Especially the one with Sean on the keyboards. nawwww
