Electoral College.

Electoral College.
I think that the electoral college should be abolished. [I don't know if you have it in other countries, but I know America does.]
Basically, each state has a certain number of votes based on population and whoever the majority of the state votes for, that candidate gets all of the electoral votes for that state.
I think that if you're going to count every vote anyway, that it should simply be a popular vote.
Every vote should count and the best way to do that is to have the president elected by popular vote.
Thoughts?

Re: Electoral College.
Agreed. I think it's been said before that the electoral college has become obsolete. (Mind you, I could be wrong. This is some years ago I heard this!) I am sort of surprised that it hasn't already been done away with. I think that sometime in the future, it probably will be.

Re: Electoral College.
Originally, the Electoral College was created so that it wouldn't take weeks to figure out who the elected officer was going to be.
It's the flippin' 21st century. It takes about four hours.
I think the popular vote should be the one to win. Look at the 2000 election. The electors screwed the voters and look at what a fine president we've had for the past 8 years. *cough sarcasm cough*
