Story rules.

Post by LADIES AND GENTLEMEN on Tue 09 Sep 2008, 1:16 am

Please clearly state your story title and rating in the topic name.

Eg:

"As the Curtain Falls; NC-17."

We use the american movie rating system here. Of course, there is nothing to stop anyone from reading any story - this is simply so you get the general idea of what a story might contain. Here's a basic outline of what ratings to use for what content.

G: General exhibition; suitable for all audiences.

PG: Parental guidance is reccomended for children. This can be things like swearing, or themes such as death or sex. Generally things you wouldn't want a kid to see before they're 13.

PG-13/M: Reccomended for mature audiences. Some mature themes; a more direct approach to sex or violence, as well as to triggery themes, like eating disorders, drug use or rape.

NC-17: Not for viewing by those under 17. Use NC-17 if your story has detailed or graphic violence, gore, drug use, mental health issues, sex scenes, etc.

R: Restricted to adults. Strong mature themes; explicit or pornographic content, high detail gore, very triggery, etc. Unless your story is a porno or a Saw-esque torture story, it's unlikely you'll need to rate it R.

It is a good idea to summarise your story.

For original fiction, something along the lines of this:

Title: (Title here)
Rating: (Your rating and why you chose it)
Author: (A link to your profile)
Genre: (Eg: horror, romance, angst, etc. You can have multiple genres; it doesn't have to be just one.)
Status: (Eg: chaptered; complete. chaptered; incomplete. oneshot; complete. etc.)
Summary/Exerpt: (A breif summary, exerpt or blurb, to give readers an idea of what your story contains.)
Warnings: (Another recap on any mature or triggery themes)

And for fanfiction, this:

Title: (Title here)
Rating: (Your rating and why you chose it)
Author: (A link to your profile)
Genre: (Eg: horror, romance, angst, etc. You can have multiple genres; it doesn't have to be just one.)
Fandom: (Who or what are you writing fanfiction about? State it here.)
Pairing: (If applicable, the couples in your stories.)

All stories should have correct spelling and grammar.

If a story isn't up to scratch, out literary mentors will pm the author with a list of changes that need to be made.
The author then needs to reply, acknowledging that they have fixed the errors in their story.

If these errors aren't fixed, we have the right to lock your story. No new posts will be able to be added to the thread - this means no new story comments and no new story chapters.

If you dont know how to improve your story any more, or think it has been unfairly locked, PM any literary mentor or moderator with your case.

If you think your story isn't up to standards but dont know what else to do, feel free to request a beta.

Please, when commenting on other people's stories, be civil.

Offer critique, not criticism. Most people here are young and are still learning.

you have pleased him Have fun.

IMPORTANT:

It's become apparent that we have a post limit on these forums.
We're working on this. But, for now, please simply post as much of your stories as you can in seperate posts.

When your story/chapter is finished, please state so in bold at the end of the last post, so other users know it is okay to comment.

We ask for other users to please, keep from commenting a story until you can see that the author has posted this statement.

I hope it's okay to ask here...

Is there a limit to how long or short the story can be?
Like... is less than 100 words okay?

It means the story has been checked by a Mentor. It was brought in to save Mentors from having to go into a story only to find it was checked already.
